Lawn Rant
sharpsideoftheknife: Mowing the lawn forced me to think about this North American obsession. I hadn’t mowed a lawn in years and the whole time I was on the riding mower or pushing the push mower I felt angry. There’s not much need for lawns. Give me flower beds, or perennial berries, or even white clover…a nitrogen fixing plant that only needs minimal mowing and oh get this doesn’t require the...

My Reaction to Letter to the Editors in my local...
First I read this doosy of a letter Same-sex pressure TO THE EDITOR: Few clear-thinking people would argue with the wisdom of not glorifying smoking through various avenues in popular culture. We see nothing wrong with rating TV shows and movies “objectionable” for younger viewers if smoking is glorified or presented as a desirable activity. We make laws to protect the minds of our...

Why must people push my aspie buttons? I want to tell him to shut up because it’s making me nervous but I have trouble talking when nervous. So yeah, I’m just going to go hide in my bedroom.

Permaculture:
ameliaburnett: Permaculture is an ecological, holistic and sustainable design system and philosophy for human living spaces. Big Egg Deal Gives America's Crowded Chickens More... →
intothestrenuousbriefness: “Good news for chickens: They may soon have their own federal protections. On Thursday, the Humane Society of the United States reached an agreement with the United Egg Producers, which represents farmers raising hens that lay four in every five of the nation’s eggs. As William Neuman reports, both sides plan to urge Congress to pass new standards for the treatment of...

Herbicides Bad for Soil? How Could That Be?
inkbot-tv: ~ Some claim that GMOs could have long term health issues, some say we shouldn’t tamper with nature, some don’t just don’t like the idea of any seed that self terminates or is controlled by a patent. Yet Dr. Don M. Humer, head of the Emergent Disease and Pathogen Committee of the USDA believes that the long used herbicide, Round Up (used for “Round Up Ready” GM soy and corn), may be...

Went to see my animals for my birthday!
Flower (my Desert Painted Sheep) looks AWESOME! She is all sleek and shiny! I forgot my camera so I don’t have any pictures, but I’m going back down at the end of the month with my sister. My 2 Alpine does’ back hooves were in pretty bad shape so I cleaned and trimmed them to the best of my ability but I’m going to have to trim their hooves again while I’m down there...

So I wore my gay pride shirt to school today.  →
sanityscraps: ryandasmac: lusciouslyric: And in chemistry class I was talking to my friend, Jack, about a gay pride festival I went to. My teacher, stupid nosy bitch, decides she wants to join in on the conversation. She asks me what I’m talking about so I turned around and her reaction was to make a noise of utter disgust. She asked me to go to the main office and get a different shirt....

2 More Days!
Until my birthday! I’m driving down to see my animals on Friday! I’m also going to be trimming their hooves because they are majorly overdue (yes this is what I consider a good way to spend my birthday). Also planning on going to the Westfield, NY Farmers Market on Saturday which was voted one of the top 10 Farmers Markets in 2009.
